Addo Elephant National Park

Home to the big 7, the Addo Elephant National Park is over 164 000 hectares and stretches across five biomes, from the vast Darlington Lake, across the breathtaking Zuurberg Mountains, through the pristine dense valley bushveld of the beautiful Sundays River Valley to the lush green indigenous forests at Woody Cape.  The forests hug the largest coastal dune fields in the Southern Hemisphere, overlooking the Park’s marine area at Bird Island and St Croix Island, where dolphins frolic in the waters of the Indian Ocean.

Situated in the malaria free Eastern Cape, only 1 hour from Port Elizabeth, the Park is a key tourism destination linked to the famous Garden Route.   The Park is a sanctuary to a multitude of wildlife species and abundant birdlife, including 450 elephants, lions, black rhinos, buffalo, leopards, spotted hyenas, zebra, a variety of antelope species, as well s the unique flightless dun beetle.  The great white shark and seasonal Southern right whale in the marine section complete the big 7.

Addo Elephant National Park offers a range of exciting eco-activities like horse riding, 4×4 trails, hiking trails, game viewing, guided game drives and birding.
