African Dope on the Streets of PE’ness
www.MyPE.co.za: An
example for your consideration: Take 14 of the most riotous African
Dope artists, set up gigs along the Garden Route every night for seven
straight days, rent two vans, make some rules (laugh them off), and
then let two of these ruckus individuals actually bestuur these
vehicles up the long and winding roads of our beloved East Coast.
From the 4th to the 11th of July the African Dope Records: Wild West on
the East Coast Tour tour will flabbergast the Garden Route. Wilderness
will be waylaid. Grahamstown Festival will be left gawking and
gobsmacked by the gargantuan goings on. Port Elizabeth will be……
well PE’ness will be Pulverised (essentially).
Dope artists will be whipping the East Coast (East siiiiiiiide!) into
shape. Spare the Rod and spoil the Wild. We’re always on the hunt for
(even) more places to throw down, but for now get your diaries out,
prick your finger and write these July month dates in blood:
4th: Wilderness - Asante, Wilderness Heights (supported by The
Village… more Capetonian talent)
5th - 8th: Grahamstown - SSS (Slipstream)
7th: Grahamstown - ‘The Sound Kiln’ party at The Tunnels
9th: Grahamstown - ‘Jose Cuervo Room’ at The Union
10th: Grahamstown - Pirates
11th: Port Elizabeth - Coco
de Mer
SO! As you can see, this schedule is no joke. None at all. Just one
big, long, bad idea. So who all are to be held responsible for such
poor thinking? These acts will all be rolling up the garden route with
sweaty armpits, nappy hair and drool marks on their shoulders: Dank,
Liver, Mix n Blend, P.H. Fat, Chamber Concept, Hyphen & SFR and
Spekta & Six-Six-One.
And of course, respect to Honey B who is running the whole thing,
travelling in the bus, but refuses to play a set. What gives honey
bizzle, what gives?
It’s all there. Plain to see. A question and answer session will follow
where the answer to all of your questions will be: DOPE!
