Art for every Taste in Nelson Mandela Bay this Summer Season There
will be plenty to occupy holiday makers at the Nelson
Metropolitan Art Museum
at 1 Park Drive, Central with two
offering an abundance of visual pleasure for every taste.

Visitors may experience the Who’s who and what’s new exhibition in the
style of the old salons, with artworks by established and emerging
local artists covering the walls. From colourful, abstract and humorous
works to those depicting more serious issues, there is something for
every age group. The Friends of the Art Museum are once again offering
the option of a silent auction for those wishing to buy work at
competitive prices. The exhibition will be on show until 24 January

The exhibition Animals in art features a menagerie of animals and other
creatures from the Art Museum’s permanent collections and will be on
show until 2 May 2010.

“The artists have looked at animals and nature for inspiration, from
Hylton Nel’s humorous worm and delightfully expressive cats to Gladys
Mgudlandlu’s red-beaked crows, Ardmore Studio’s animal inspired designs
and Derrick Erasmus’s exaggerated chameleon. This show will amuse and
delight and allow the visitor to see animals through the eyes of
artists,” says Emma Taggart, Exhibition Curator.

Opening times are Monday to Friday  09h00 – 18h00
(Closed Tuesday mornings),  Saturdays & Sundays 13h00
– 17h00, Public Holidays 14h00 – 17h00 and the first Sunday of the
month 09h00 – 14h00

The Art Museum will be closed on 25 December 2009 (Christmas Day) and 1
January 2010 (New Year’s Day).
