Boardwalk Backs Warriors The
Boardwalk general manager, Clifford Ngakane handed over R13,110 to
managing director and director Cricket Eastern Cape, Dave Emslie on
Thursday, 08 October 2009. “Donations such as this have helped us
create a very professional team with very professional facilities,”
says Emslie. “It gives the franchise the capacity to provide things
like video analysis and a full time physio therapist for team members.”

of The
‘s ongoing relationship with the
and the team’s “Project Warriors” fundraising plan.
The brainchild of Dave Emslie, Project Warriors was started over four
years ago to gather together several sponsors for the team.

“The Boardwalk has been part of Project Warriors right from the start,
and we are very proud to be supporters of the team,” says Boardwalk
general manager, Clifford Ngakane.

“We originally approached fifteen local businesses to invest in the
team,” says Emslie. “This number has grown to about 35 businesses who
have become part of the Chevrolet Warriors family. All sponsors receive
a basket of benefits relating to the Chevrolet Warriors including game
tickets and corporate gifts.”

By having a number of smaller sponsors, there is less pressure on big
business to invest vast amounts of money into local teams. “Project
Warriors also gives local Eastern Cape businesses great marketing
exposure without having to break the bank,” says Emslie. He hopes to
raise the number of team sponsors to 50 by the end of next year.

“At the end of the year we have a function for all of our sponsors, and
a lucky draw competition where business owners can win a four day
luxury cruise for two. We also offer clinics and coaching for sponsors’
kids which adds to the benefits,” says Emslie.
