Eastern Province Amateur Cricket Board Awards

Eastern Province Amateur Cricket Board, on Friday 19 June 2009, held
their inaugural awards dinner with 34 awards handed out in various
categories.

President, Raymond Uren said “We are delighted to acknowledge all
those that work hard both on and off the field. There is a lot of work
that gets carried out behind the scenes each season and we wanted to
reward those that excel in their fields – from representing the
province on the field to umpiring, administrators, scorers and clubs in
each of the affiliates who have shown dedication and commitment”

Club Awards were awarded to; NMBCB League Winners in the Super A
category the ABSA NMMU Cricket Club, Super B category, Welcome Cricket
Club. In the other leagues; The Central Karoo CU League was won by
Harefield Cricket Club, the Grahamstown CB League was won by
Cuylerville Cricket Club and in the Winterberg CB League Standard and
Michausdal shared the winners trophy.

Most Conscientious Club Awards went to Motherwell Cricket Club from the
Nelson Mandela Bay Cricket Board, Cuylerville Cricket Club from the
Grahamstown Cricket Board, the Bethesda Road B Team from the Central
Karoo Cricket Union and Standard Cricket Club from the Winterberg
Cricket Board. 

Service Awards went to the following; Best Senior Umpire – Stephen
Harris, Best Junior Umpire – Marcello Plaatjies, Achievement Service
Award – Carl Coetzee and the Scorers Award for Dedicated Service -
Kelly Robbins.

Clinton SadlerThe Provincial
Administrator of the Year was awarded to Ebben Hufkie of
Central Karoo.

The Club Administrator of the Year was awarded to Raymondo Luiters
(CKCU).

The Youth Administrator of the Year was awarded to Malcolm Roberts
(EPYCB).

The Youth Award for Contribution to Cricket at any level went to Roy
Kelbrick.

The following Youth Cricket Playing awards were made; Under 19
Cricketer of the Year – Kelly Smuts
(Graham College), Under
17
Cricketer of the Year – Colin Ackerman (Grey High) and Under 15
Cricketer of the Year – Edward Moore (Grey High).

Senior Cricket Playing Awards went to; Best Metro League Cricketer in
the Super A – Darius Slabbert (Greenbushes Cricket Club), Super B -
Khanyiso Mabandla (PE College Cricket Club), Best Rural Cricketer Chris
Fredericks (Grahamstown) and Hilton Collett (Midlands).

E.P Women’s Cricket awards went to; U/19 Cricketer of the Year – Jana
Nell
(Framesby High, SA u/18 team captain), Best Batsman -
Claire
Terblanche, Best Bowler – Megan Seale and Player of the year -
Marizanne Kapp (SA team, SA T20 Team).

EP Amateur Team awards went to; Best Batsman – Chad Baxter, Best Bowler
- Andrew Birch and Player of the year – Andrew Birch.

The Presidents Award for which the President has full discretion and
may make the award based on criteria as determined by himself was
awarded to Clinton Saddler.

The Eastern
Province Cricket Board
Management Committee conferred
Honoris Causa to 3 persons; Keith Reid, Stephen Draai and Alfred Nomoyi.
