It’s Time to Find out Who Rocks
Kingfisher FM’s music competition, Do You Rock?, is back for 2010 and
this year the prizes for the winner is even better than ever before.

The competition was launched in 2009. It was such an awesome success,
organizers decided to make it an annual event and entries for Do You
Rock? 2010 opened in September for the second year in a row.

“Last year’s winner, Uitenhage girl Rouchelle Hubsch, was launched
into a national career after winning Do You Rock?,” said Clair Arthur
of Kingfisher
. “While working on her first 3-track album, which was
part of her prize, she collaborated with former Eminent Child-member,
Darren Peens, forming Diesel Vanilla, a fabulous duo, now popular on
Cape Town Music scene.”

This year’s winner will again walk away with a 3-track recording,
compliments of Playground Studio, recently taken over by well known
international drummer Lloyd Martin and events organizer Hennie Visser.
“The big bonus, this year, is a music video, sponsored by Rooftop
Productions, enabling the winner to go directly to online formats like
You Tube & MySpace and even have the tools to attempt
playlisting on TV,” said Luthando Shosha of Kingfisher FM.

The competition has an ‘open-format’. Anyone older than 16 who lives in
Nelson Mandela Bay or one of the immediate country-towns, such as
Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, Kirkwood or Patensie, may enter. There is no
limitation on style or genre and solo-artists as well as bands may
enter – the only limitation being that original music must be entered.

From all the entries, 20 semi-finalists will be chosen. Their music
will be playlisted on Kingfisher FM, affording listeners the
opportunity to vote and influence who goes through to the finals. 10
finalists will perform live at UpTown
on 24 November and the
winner will be announced, live on-air, on 26 November.

Entry forms for Do You Rock? 2010 are available from the Kingfisher
or via e-mail to doyourock[at]
