Fake Police “Catch
Criminals” in Attempt to Gain Access to House

A RESIDENT in Oceanview Drive in Malabar was confronted by two men
apparently dressed as police officers Friday evening last week.

According to the resident, the two “policemen”, accompanied by two
other men, approached him Friday. He said the “policemen” claimed that
the men with them were suspects who had allegedly fired shots at his
house. The man did not trust the “police” and said he was going to call
Atlas Security.

All four men immediately jumped back into their car and fled the scene.
Police have opened a case of trespassing and are investigating.

Toilet Paper Recovery

SIX large bags of toilet paper that had been stolen off the back of a
truck in Sturrock Street in Deal Party were recovered last week Friday
morning by an Atlas Armed Response officer.

truck driver, who informed him that five men had stolen the toilet

Lady Luck Deserts South
End Burglar

A BURGLAR who tried to rob a business in South End late last week
Thursday evening most definitely did not have lady luck his side. His
first attempt, forcing a door at the back of the premises open,
revealed nothing but an empty storeroom and triggered the alarm,
bringing Atlas armed response officers to the scene.

Trying to escape the officers, our unlucky would-be burglar turned
fugitive scaled up the side of the building and then promptly plummeted
through the roof as it gave way beneath him.

Slightly dazed, the burglar grabbed a few packs of cigarettes before
walking out through the front door of the shop, straight into the
waiting arms of the armed response. The suspect did try to run away,
but decided not to try his luck any further after one of the guards
fired a warning shot. He was caught the corner of First Avenue and
Albert Road and handed over to police, who arrested him a charge of
burglary.

Police also recovered a number of cards belonging to different people,
as well as a firearm, from him and are expecting that this will link
him to a number of previous crimes.

Motor Vehicle Stolen in
Walker Drive

THE Ben Kamma Neighbourhood Watch reported that a vehicle had been
stolen out of the parking area along Walker Drive last Friday night,
saying; “This happened sometime between the time the owner arrived that
evening and the time they decided to leave. The vehicle was apparently
seen departing with 4 adult, black or coloured males inside.”

Note from Atlas:

  • Try to park your car in a well lighted area, and if
possible, avoid parking next to large vehicles, these vehicles can
block the view of your car and make it harder to detect someone
    breaking in.
  • Do not leave items of value in the car in plain sight.
  • When leaving your car for any amount of time lock it. Not
only does this assist in preventing theft, but it is required by
    regulation.
  • If the vehicle is equipped with a gear lock, immobiliser or
other type of anti-theft equipment, USE IT
