KentonXtreme Eco Challenge The
annual KentonXtreme Eco Challenge takes place at Kenton-on-Sea over the
weekend of 15 to 16 May and promises to be a lot of fun for local
sports enthusiasts who are looking for something different.

fun kicks off with the very popular Rotary
fundraising Seafood dinner in the Kenton Town Hall which promises to be
another sell-out evening of fine dining, fun and excitement. This is
followed by the Pam Golding Down Wind Surf Ski Race on the Saturday
morning with registration taking place at the Homewoods Restaurant from
8am. The Surf Ski race will start at either Port Alfred or Cannon
Rocks, depending on the prevailing wind on the morning with the
paddlers setting off at 11h30 and expected in at the Kariega River
Mouth just before 1pm to finish in the Kariega River lagoon directly in
front of the Homewoods Restaurant. Taking place on the beach during the
day will be the Buildit Beach Soccer Tournament with 6 local teams
kicked out in the colours of their favourite World Cup soccer teams. On
the Saturday afternoon is the exciting Kenton Eco Estate off-road
triathlon for teams or individuals. Always a popular event amongst the
families and the schools, the triathlon consists of a 1km (tide
assisted swim) or a 3km paddle, followed by a 15km Mountain Bike Ride
and then a challenging 4km Beach Run. The event will start and finish
on the beach in front of Homewoods from 2.30pm. Entry fee, before 9th
May, for the triathlon will be R120 per team of 3 or R70 for

Vuyani SelaniThe Sunday morning
kicks off at 8.30am with a very challenging Hi-Tec
Security Coastal 55km Mountain Bike Ride which takes riders through the
Kenton Eco Estate and local farmlands before returning along the beach
to the Kariega River Mouth. A less challenging 20km version
is also available on the morning whilst the runners tackle the
Homewoods 10km adventure run. Early entries for the Hi-Tec Security
Coastal 60km MTB ride will be R80, R50 for the 20km version and R30 for
the adventure run. Rotary will also host a 5km beach run/walk at just
R10 per person. All events will incur a late entry fee for all entries
made after the 9th May.

The KentonXtreme Eco Challenge is an initiative of the Kenton/Bushmans
Chamber of Business and Tourism and promises to be a lot of fun for the
whole family.
