Municipality Adheres to Drought Water Restrictions

www.MyPE.co.za: The
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Parks Directorate has been inundated
with calls from concerned residents regarding the adherence to water
restrictions imposed by the local government institution as a result of
low levels of supply dams in the catchment areas.

The calls mostly refer to the usage of irrigation systems at St Georges
Park (recycled water), Victoria Park (borehole water), Donkin Reserve
(borehole water) and Beachfront (recycled water).

Municipal water supply is not being used at these places and as a
result it is exempted from restrictions.

Furthermore, it is also important to note that almost 95% of the annual
flower beds have not been planted this summer due to the drought. The
planting of flowers took places only in areas where recycled water is
available.

Residents can also make use of recycled water, which is available for
free provided that the water is collected by interested parties
themselves. Depending where the user is located recycled water can be
collected at one of these sources after making the necessary
arrangements (working hours only):

  1. Fish Water Flats (Deal Party) – 041 486 1460 or 071 040 7471
  2. Cape Receife – 041 583 1812 or 076 426 0223
  3. Driftsands – 041 581 3718 or 079 879 3361

Please ensure that the necessary arrangements are made with the
Municipal staff before water is collected at the mentioned facilities.
