Port Elizabeth Full of Bull

www.MyPE.co.za:
The
people of Port Elizabeth are officially full of (Red) Bull after the
News
Cafe
at The Boardwalk came first in a national Red Bull sales
competition.

Thirsty customers saw to it that The Boardwalk outlet increased its
year-to-year sales by the largest margin of any News Cafe in the
country.

“This is a great achievement for a Boardwalk tenant, especially during
a time of negative growth in consumer spending in the economy, ” says
Boardwalk retail manager Mandy O’Regan. “News Cafe’s achievement is
proof that The
Boardwalk
is weathering the storm better than many other
centres in Port Elizabeth.”

According to Mansy; “Figures for the first four months of the year show
that retail turnover at the complex is down by just over one per cent -
which is below the 2,9 per cent drop in retail sales for the first
quarter reported by Stats SA. Our foot count is also up by one per cent
year-on-year.

Sandy NellOwner and operator of
News Cafe at The Boardwalk, Sandy
Nel
, won a five
day all expenses paid trip to Madrid in July to experience the Red Bull
X-Fighter live from the mighty Las Ventas bullring. “I am so excited,
I’ve never been to Spain before,” says Nel.

Sandy will be accompanied by her partner, Michael
Zoetmulder
, as well
as the lucky consumer winner and partner who entered the competition
from News Café Northcliff in Johannesburg.

News Cafe employees Charlton Brown and Dan Agaba each won themselves a
case of Red Bull and hampers for their support of the promotion.

“We are so proud to have an energized and enthusiastic compliment of
staff who are really keen to add a vibe to any guest’s visit at News
Cafe,” says Nel. “They are professional and supportive and enjoy the
incentives put in place by the company.”

Guests who enjoyed a Red Bull and Smirnoff Triple Distilled Vodka at
any News Cafe store would receive a ‘scratch and win’ card which stood
them a chance of winning phenomenal on the spot prizes.

A biggest contributor to the Boardwalk
News Cafe’s
Red Bull sales was
the Red Bull Xtreme Party held on 25 March featuring DJs Kev &
Shav of Foreign Xchange.

While The Boardwalk’s “Festival Retail” mix has proved more resilient
than that in some of the more traditional shopping centres, the
complex’s management team is working closely with its tenants to help
them trade through the current downturn.

“Whilst consumers are all counting their pennies, they still want to be
entertained! They look for a place where there is a great atmosphere,
value for money and an awesome vibe, and there is no better place than
the basket of different restaurants and entertainment that the
Boardwalk has on offer. Our newly launched Sizzling Hot Winter specials
is just one of many examples of the different spices all the tenants
are offering at the Boardwalk,” says Nel.
