Cricket
A cricket club was initially started in 1843 at St George’s Park and in 1859 the new Port Elizabeth Cricket Club was granted land that it still occupies within the Park boundaries. In 1889, the first South African cricket test match against England took place there. Port Elizabeth is home to the Eastern Cape Province Cricket Team and boasts the internationally recognized Sahara Oval St George’s.

Rugby

Horse Racing
Port Elizabeth has two major racecourses, namely Arlington and Fairview both managed and maintained by Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Ltd. Racing takes place at either course every Friday afternoon. For more information contact 041 372 1859
