Redhouse River Mile

86th SPAR Redhouse River Mile takes place THIS weekend at a NEW
temporary venue of Cannonville (Sundays River). Online entries will
CLOSE on Thursday.
An action packed weekend is being planned to ensure the success of the
86th SPAR Redhouse River Mile despite the
forced relocation to the
Sundays River which offers a fantastic alternative to Redhouse.
SATURDAY
- 10am: Discovery Tri-IT off-road. This is a triathlon for
the whole family ! With a 750m swim, 20km MTB ride and a 5km trail run,
you can come and do this on your own or as a team (2 or 3 persons). All
proceeds from this event will be going to the Rotary Club of PE Sunrise. - 11am: Registation opens and this is the last change to get
our entries in for Sunday events and avoid a hefty (on-the-day) late
registration fee. Take advantage of this day to collect your
registration packs for Sunday to avoid the anticipated Q’s. - 1pm: Wetsuit Mile – Come down and race the Mile in your
wetsuit. Cash prizes for the top 3 Men and Ladies. - 2pm: Disabled Mile – Come down and support our champions.
Latest entrant is Paralympic Champion and world record holder Kevin
Paul. - 3pm: Prize giving for Saturday’s events INCLUDING a
Blueseventy Wetsuit and goggles as lucky draw prizes for some lucky
participants from the above three events.
SUNDAY
- 10am: Registration opens. Collection of registration packs
and late registration. Late registration fee for the Mile events jumps
to R200 in order to try and avoid entries on the day. - 12pm: Nando’s Prelim Kids Races, children 12u and 10u will
race across the river (about 50m) in what is fast becoming the most
exciting and fun event on the calendar. - 1.15pm: Celebrity Challenge. Come and watch some of the
cities celebrities in this dash for cash where the winners gets R1000
for their charity. This race will feature, amongst others, Port
Elizabeth’s Survivor,
Okkert Britz. - 1.30pm: Ladies Mile. As is tradition of this event, all
participants MUST walk to the start of the event. Western Province
swimming sensation Dominique Dryding will be back to try and defend her
title. - 2.30pm: Men’s Mile As is tradition of this event, all
participants MUST walk to the start of the event. Olympian and 2010
Midmar Mile winner Chad Ho will be back to try and defend his title. - 3.30pm: Entertainment and Prize Giving. NO FEWER than 4
VUKA SCUTA’s will be given away during the prize giving PLUS a
Blueseventy wetsuit and goggles.
