Robot Beggars Ensure Brighter Future for New Brighton Foundation

www.MyPE.co.za: Fifty
orphaned children from New Brighton were surprised today (Wednesday 20
October) when they
received hotdogs, cool drinks and sweet packets which are much
different from what they are use to getting at the Seki Women’s
Foundation.

Seki FoundationFive dedicated second
year Public Relations students from NMMU
managed
to secure donations such as a water
tank
, fertiliser and vegetable
seeds from Green
Fingers
, clothing from family and friends as well as a
computer
and water tank stand from Much Asphalt. The representative
from Much
Asphalt
, Thabo, said; “This event was really well organised
and after seeing the children’s happy faces today, I can truly say that
Much Asphalt is proud to have contributed towards a brighter future for
these children and Seki Women’s Foundation”.

The children sang, played and laughed through the entire event and the
owner of Seki, Mrs Pella Bono said that she really appreciates
everything they received especially the computer as being computer
literate is very important these days.

Commendable to see that five young individuals could brighten up the
future for the kids at Seki Women’s Foundation by giving up a few hours
in their day. Makes one wonder what can be done to improve the lives of
the less fortunate on a daily basis.

Editors Notes:
It is very refreshing to
see the above group of NMMU
Students not only helping the community but also ensuring that their
efforts are reported back to the general public in a selfless gesture
of transparency and accountability – MyPE raises a glass to their civic
mindedness.

A lesson that our local
politicians (and communications department!)
could well benefit from.
