Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism (NMBT) together with the Tourism
sub-directorate of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s department of
Economic Development and Recreational Services (EDRS) has offered
training through funding by the National Lottery Distribution Trust
Fund (NLDTF) and the 2010 Directorate to educate tourism product owners
on various topics in the continued drive to ensure that the Tourism
Industry is ready to receive and provide a quality service to the many
expected visitors during the World Cup and beyond.
workshops have been provided to Tourism Product owners
within Nelson Mandela Bay and these include amongst others, workshops
on Responsible and sustainable tourism practices, SA Host, Forex
Information and First Aid training.
In a certificate ceremony that was held last night, all those who
successfully completed the workshops were honoured. “Not only has this
been an opportunity for the partners involved to give back to the
community through the offering of the workshops. It has also been an
exercise through which we could ensure that Nelson Mandela Bay offered
top quality services, that we are compliant with various regulations,
and most importantly that the private and public sector are joining
hands to build, grow and develop the tourism industry” said Fezekile
Tshiwula, CEO of NMBT.
